Synopsis

In the 23rd century, cynical journalist Spider Jerusalem is forced out of retirement by his publisher to make good on his publishing deal, forcing him to leave his self-imposed mountain exile and return to the urban sprawl of The City to work as an investigative reporter for the newspaper The Word. With the help of his "filthy assistants" Yelena Rossini and Channon Yarrow, Spider uses his subversive brand of journalism to attack the injustices of the corrupt, surreal landscape of his dystopian world.

Description of The Beast:

The Beast is (and was) a two-term president whom Spider Jerusalem despised for his political tactics and condescending attitude toward the population. The Beast gained his nickname from Spider, and supporters and even his own children refer to him by it, a fact for which he despises Spider.
