This adds a perfect sense of nuance to the villain, in which we can feel sympathy for him. Selvig, Darcy and Jane form as Thor's Midgardians who teach him the ropes of Earth. It could be eating with Darcy, Having a drink with Selvig or going over physics and science with Jane.
