The protagonist of the film. His entire character arc is built on him learning to overcome his own ego and let go of his prejudices. In the beginning of the film, he is portrayed as arrogant, superficial, and inconsiderate. He’s also shown to be homophobic as his constant jealousy and disgust towards Matt Torrent despite the farmer’s unwavering kindness towards him eventually sowers him from pursuing a genuine friendship, a major flaw he eventually takes accountability for as he comes to care for the farmer and his daughter. He also develops a soft spot for Sally Carpenter (his love interest), Kenny O’Brian (Leonard Perretti in disguise), and eventually Paul Michael Hudson.
