In the 1970s in Cambodia, Kai is a 4-year-old boy who lives in a small village. He has a golden ring on his hand that belongs to his grandfather when he died. Kai ran away from the Khmer Rouge and he was wandering into the forest. He grew up as he became a soldier to make freedom for his family.
