Gargamel (Jim Carrey) tries to capture the Smurfs to keep as amulets. Frightened and led by Clumsy Smurf (Thomas Brodie-Sangster), the little ones enter a forbidden cave during a full moon. They end up being transported through a portal to Central Park in New York City. There, Clumsy, Grouchy (Dacre Montgomery), Smurfette (Lily Rose Depp), Brainy (Gianni DeCenzo), Papa Smurf (Pierce Brosnan), and Brave (KJ Apa) find refuge with a couple.
