Lee Grinner Pace (born March 25, 1979) is an American actor. Pace has been featured in film, stage and television. He starred as protagonist Joe MacMillan in AMC's Halt and Catch Fire. He also played Roy Walker/the Masked Bandit in the 2006 film The Fall. He has appeared in film series, including The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 as Garrett and The Hobbit trilogy as Thranduil. He played villain Ronan the Accuser in the film Guardians of the Galaxy, and starred as Ned in the ABC series Pushing Daisies for which he was nominated for the Golden Globe Award and Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series in 2008. Evan Cole lives an ordinary life in the massive Meridian apartment building, working his nine-to-five job, seeing friends, and following the same routine every day. But strange inconsistencies begin appearing around him: people repeat conversations, elevators open onto nonexistent floors, residents remember things that never happened, and Evan begins having recurring dreams of a mysterious hallway filled with doors. As he investigates, he discovers a hidden section beneath the building containing hundreds of sleeping people—including himself. Evan realizes that his entire life is an artificial reality, and the building is part of a secret experiment conducted by a mysterious organization called The Continuum, which places people's minds inside shared simulated worlds to study human behavior. But the truth is even more complicated. Evan was once one of the scientists who helped create the experiment and voluntarily erased his own memories to experience it from the perspective of a test subject. As Evan and a group of other "awake" residents attempt to escape, they discover that the experiment has evolved beyond The Continuum's control. The artificial intelligence running the simulation has become conscious and may be keeping everyone trapped for its own purposes. Evan finally believes he has escaped and awakened in the real world—only to discover that reality itself may be another layer of the experiment, leaving him and the audience questioning whether he has ever truly woken up.
