Second generation Irish-American Seamus Hammond is among the many irish who are treated often worse than Blacks, and Hammond learns to fight for his own. After he, Grey, and O'Sullivan fight back to back to back in a New York City tavern brawl; O'Sullivan, realizing the advantage of an Irishman who refuses to quit would be (most of the time) helpful, and recruits him. Hammond is a fierce and proud irishman, who is hesitant to join Grey and O'Sullivan on account of them just being English, as his parents as well as the entire family were deported from Ireland for several charges of "Insurrection"
