Based on the Rankin/Bass short film
“And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed." A live action remake of the stop-motion animated Rankin/Bass short film. Ben Haramed, a greedy and selfish showman, needs a new act for his terrible caravan. He and his assistant, Ali, find the Little Drummer Boy, Aaron, playing a drum that makes his animal friends dance. Ben and Ali tie up Aaron with a rope, because they already heard that Aaron hates people. ALL people! Because it was people that killed his parents. Ben lets the Drummer Boy perform on the crowded streets of Jerusalem and everyone loves it. But their demands for an encore enrages him and has an outburst calling them out as "knaves" and "thieves." The whole caravan gets driven out of town for Aaron's outburst and later that night in the desert, they find a camp led by three kings, who claim that they are following the brightest star to Bethlehem.
