A very peaceful life in The Great Valley for Littlefoot, Cera, Ducky, Petrie, and Spike playing around and having fun together with their families. But when a falling meteor causes great cataclysmic events, the herds all move to find another valley again while the children wander off to find the meteor crash site and restore water to the valley, past the valley of the mists to a mysterious island in Big Water. Along for the journey they meet a friendly baby sharptooth named Chomper, Ali and her gang, Ruby, Guido, and Archie, Littlefoot's long-lost father Bron, and all sorts of new ferocious carnivores and perils! Can Littlefoot and his friends restore the Great Valley and get home safe?
