Synopsis

Vietnam war escapee Edward Prendick is rescued by alcoholic degenerate Montgomery Davenport, and taken back to a mysterious island where Montgomery and the doctor surgically turn animals into grotesque "men", as the island's hierarchy slowly descends into madness.

Description of The Sayer of the law (The mad preacher):

An old sloth that has been mutilated into the shape of a man, the Sayer is in charge of conducting cultlike rituals in which he recites an incoherent litany of "law" for the other beast men to follow, while he believes himself to be a god, but is merely Moreau's pawn.
