Live Action remake made 30 years later
The story takes place in 15th-century Paris. It begins when the ruthless, religious fanatic Judge Claude Frollo corners a group of Romani refugees outside Notre Dame. He accidentally kills a Romani mother but is forced by the cathedral's Archdeacon to adopt her deformed baby. Frollo raises the child in the bell tower, naming him Quasimodo and instilling a belief that he is a "monster" who must hide from the cruel outside world.
