This role refers to the actress who was the greatest at playing antagonistic roles. Although a large majority of antagonists in cinema are male, it would be unfair not to recognize the many talented actresses who have played antagonists when there is an Antagonist Actor category. It could refer to an actress who played a secondary villain or a protagonist villain, as well as a more typical antagonist. This does not necessarily mean the actress only portrayed villainous characters; it merely means the actress who was the greatest at playing one or more antagonistic roles.
