Gustave H. is the concierge for the Grand Budapest Hotel, a popular ski resort that plays host to a series of strange guests. As the concierge, he mentors his protégé, Zero, and also provides the uncommon service of satisfying the needs of a series of elderly women who stay at the hotel. When one of these women dies, Gustave becomes the prime suspect in what seems to be a murder case.
