Yackle is older than the Wizard, older than Shiz, older than the name "Oz" itself. She is a crone of indeterminate origin who appears at moments of magical inflection — a midwife, a prophetess, a warning no one heeds in time. This film, structured as a series of vignettes across centuries, traces her observations of Oz's magical history: how sorcery entered the land, why the Animals were given speech, and what dark covenant underpins the entire world. Visually unlike any Oz story ever told — dark, folkloric, and deeply strange.
