In the early 70's the USA is up against the USSR in the Space Race. So in order to get on step ahead of the USSR, America calls upon Dr. Victor VonDoom the most richest, and famous scientist that the US has. But in order to complete the mission Victor calls upon Dr. Reed Richards who is a struggling scientist (who at this point in his career is a Bill Nye Parody) and calls upon him and others to win the race.
