  • misterwolf Plot: In North Dakota's half of the Drift Prairie, two police rangers named Clementine Gritstone and Darrell Cyrus are called to help solve a violent murder against a Native American. Clementine examines the body, and identifies the victim as a young boy and speculates that he may be from a local Kanien'keha'ka village.
  • misterwolf Joined by respected FBI profiler Roland, Clementine and Cyrus arrive at the village of Aiyana, where they inform the boy's parents, Kovyah and Amari Lynx, of his death. Later on, an autopsy shows that the victim suffered gashes in his scalp and puncture wounds on his entire body. As Clementine further searches the body, she finds his fist clenched. Prying it open, she finds a crumbled paper and upon straightening it, she realizes that it is a note.
  • misterwolf When Clementine reads it, it only says "Remember". She realizes that the victim knew he would die, but she does not understand why he was cryptic. Clementine and Cyrus are called one week later to another crime, and the victim was mutilated the same way as the last. This time, the trio, consisting of Clementine, Cyrus and Roland, are joined by John Ratchet, the sheriff of Fargo, and his deputy Wyatt Ackland, as well as high-ranking park ranger Ray Bradshaw. Ackland is also Clementine's ex-husband, whom she divorced for lacking any love for their daughter Dylan, and also due to personal reasons.
  • misterwolf During the autopsy of the victim, this time being a man in his late thirties, Clementine reads another note, this time saying "Your Traumatic". Clementine is even more mystified and calls her older sister Susie, who combines the two notes together. Susie is equally suspicious of these cryptic messages but speculates that the combined words "Remember Your Traumatic" are somehow connected to Clementine, who decides to keep the notes until she completes the message of every victim. While on patrol with Cyrus, Roland, Ray, and John, Clementine finally opens up about the death of her son Henry, who was killed at only twelve just two years ago, and she adds that his murder was never solved. They are eventually called to another crime scene, and the victim this time is none other than Kovyah. When Clementine and Cyrus arrive, they are devastated at the loss of their friend. Clementine immediately drives to Aiyana and informs Amari of Kovyah's murder, and the two friends embrace and mourn his loss.
  • misterwolf Amari later admits to Clementine that more of her people had been missing over the years, and was unable to call the police due to the lack of evidence. Realizing that this is Clementine's chance to solve the other crimes committed against her people, Amari encourages her to find the person responsible for all of this. Before Clementine leaves, Amari gives her a note written by Kovyah, having been instructed to keep it for him. At Kovyah's autopsy, Clementine reads the note, and it says "Memories And Your State Of Depression." Combining the words as "Remember Your Traumatic Memories And Your State Of Depression", Clementine realizes not only that the notes were all meant for her, but that the killer is the same person who murdered Henry.
  • misterwolf At the next crime scene, the victim is Amari's father, and as Clementine and Cyrus examine the body, they are joined by their friends again, but as Ackland approaches afterwards, Clementine becomes suspicious when she secretly points out that Ackland was not present during the first and third crime scenes. She and Cyrus realize that Ackland is the killer, but Ackland catches on to this and speeds away in his car. Clementine and Cyrus, accompanied by the other officers, give chase to Ackland throughout the prairie, but as a gunfight starts, Roland and Bradshaw are killed, while Cyrus is gravely injured. Ackland narrowly manages to escape, and Clementine takes Cyrus to the hospital.
  • misterwolf Clementine is informed by the medics that Cyrus will live in excruciating pain for the rest of life if proper medication is not given to him. When Clementine visits Cyrus, he gives her a final request: take him off life support at day three. Clementine is reluctant but says she will think about it, and Cyrus says "Take your time." Clementine is called by John to find Ackland with him and the rest of the squad, and when she arrives, they follow his tracks thoroughly. They are later ambushed by Ackland and both John and Susie are injured, while the squad is gunned down.
  • misterwolf Clementine chases Ackland through a rainstorm, and a running gunfight ensues. Clementine manages to kneecap Ackland from behind, and when she approaches him at gunpoint, she asks why he killed Henry, and Amari's whole family. Ackland replies that killing is the only thing that ever gave him satisfaction, and when he threatens Dylan's life, Clementine shoots him through the right side of his chest, but cannot bring herself to kill him, overcome with emotion. She instead gives him a head start to run away with his wounds, albeit without medical attention, and he reluctantly does so. However, before Ackland can get away completely, he bleeds out and collapses, dying of his injuries.
  • misterwolf In the aftermath, Ackland's body is burned by the Kanien'ka'haka, with Clementine attending his condemnation with Amari. Clementine visits Cyrus on the third day, and, having made up her mind, decides to take him off life support, not wanting him to go through immense pain. Cyrus tells Clementine she is "Il Mio Angelo il Mio Bambino." When Clementine asks what it means, Cyrus replies "My angel, and my child." Clementine then unplugs Cyrus' life support, allowing to die peacefully, and she walks out of the hospital with John sadly watching, feeling sympathetic for Clementine's shattered soul. John briefly narrates in a memoir he is writing, stating that Clementine never got another police partner to replace Cyrus, as she was too devastated and heartbroken to have another after losing the only true friend she ever had. Later on, Clementine visits Aiyana again, where she finds Amari sitting outside of her house. Amara reminds Clementine that she knows how it feels to lose a loved one, and offers comfort if she sits with her; Clementine accepts. The two friends mourn the deaths of their sons respectively. Before the end credits roll, a title card states that the story is meant to spread awareness about the dangers of the American prairies and that nobody knows how many Native Americans wind up missing.
