Book One
The story follows Simon, a common kitchen scullion, as the realms of Osten Ard descend into turmoil. With the death of the old High King, Prester John, there is uncertainty throughout the collected duchies and kingdoms. When rumours of civil war and unrest are brewing, and mysterious happenings on the Frostmarch in the duchy of Rimmersgard are ignored by all, Simon's dreams of great deeds and heroics appear in his terrifying reality. Knowing little of history, fighting, the world or even himself, Simon (and the world) are forced to persevere or fall.
