Solomon Muto is a fictional character from the Yu-Gi-Oh! manga, its adapted media and franchise. He is the paternal grandfather and legal guardian of Yugi Muto along with being the owner and proprietor of the Kame Game shop. He is also the present day counterpart and reincarnation of Shimon Muran, Pharaoh Atem's royal advisor and grand vizier. When Solomon was younger, he traveled to Egypt and visited the legendary Valley of the Kings, hoping to discover the tomb of the pharaoh and later found the Millennium Puzzle, which he would eventually gift to his grandson years later. He was also a gambler who made a bet that if he ever lost, he would retire and open up his own game shop, which he eventually did. Solomon has taught Yugi how to play the game of Duel Monsters and to play with his heart and soul through a philosophy he calls "the heart of the cards."
