She was raised in House Velaryon. She sailed beside Aegon the Conqueror. History will forget her name. This is her name. Set during Aegon Targaryen's conquest of Westeros (~1-2 AC), The Conqueror's Court follows Lyanna Velaryon, 24, a Black woman raised within House Velaryon — the great Westerosi house of Valyrian descent whose naval power is essential to Aegon's campaign. She is entirely Westerosi, entirely of the Velaryon tradition: she speaks the Common Tongue and High Valyrian, commands the tides like her house's tradition, and has been raised as a naval commander since childhood. When Aegon's conquest requires sea operations — the taking of the Stormlands' coast, the logistical supply of three army groups — Lyanna commands the fleet's advance squadron with a precision that Aegon's advisors take note of privately and credit to Lord Velaryon publicly. Her marriage to Daemon Velaryon (a cousin) is an arrangement that becomes genuine; her role in the conquest is the series' political engine. S1E1 — The Silver Fleet Lyanna commanding the Velaryon advance squadron. The conquest beginning. The first battle she wins before Aegon's land forces arrive at the coast. S1E8 — The Field of Fire The conquest's most devastating battle. Lyanna's fleet cuts off the enemy's coastal retreat. She does not see the dragonfire but she sees its results. S2E12 — Aegon's Throne Series finale: The conquest complete. The Iron Throne forged. Lyanna's name in the official chronicle — finally, correctly, as naval commander of the conquest, not as Lord Velaryon's wife
