Donald tries to be a good man, dealing with all the pressure of working for the Springwood Police Department (and later becoming the sheriff). No pressure however is great enough to beat his frustration and disgust at discovering his wife cheating on him with serial killer Freddy Krueger. the painful divorce, the lies he had to tell to cover up Krueger's death, and the guilt for putting Phinneas in jail made Donald become depressed, cold, and bitter.
