After fully becoming The Batman and taking his vow to not kill, Bruce is struggling to win over Gotham as he is still being hunted by the police, in particular Detective Jim Gordon. He then learns of a professor named Jonathan Crane at Gotham University experimenting on his students. He finds Crane and multiple dead students, he then beats him brutally, causing him to experience the worst fear imaginable. Crane is sent to Arkham Asylum, where he used to work and plans revenge against the Batman.
