In this modern retelling of The Book of Exodus, a group of oppressed people living under a brutal dictatorship in an unnamed country have their prayers answered when a young revolutionary named Moses emerges. With the aid of his sister Miriam and other allies, Moses sets out to rally the people and lead them to freedom in a new land. However, the path to liberation is fraught with danger and obstacles. The dictator Pharaoh and his loyalists will stop at nothing to crush the rebellion and maintain their grip on power. Meanwhile, some of the people themselves are hesitant about the risk and uncertainty of escaping from their familiar but oppressive lives. As Moses leads the people on their journey, he must grapple with his own doubts and fears, as well as the weight of his new responsibilities as a leader. Along the way, he encounters people of different backgrounds and beliefs, including a former ally who defects to the other side. With themes of freedom, faith, and leadership, this modern take on The Book of Exodus explores the timeless struggle for autonomy and dignity in the face of tyranny and injustice.
