The mysterious Ghost-Maker was once a friend of Bruce Wayne who trained with many of his friend's mentors but later became a rival, as Ghost-Maker is a psychopath who sees vigilantism as an art rather than a duty, as opposed to Bruce who has more emotional reasons for fighting crime. Coming to clashes on their journeys, Ghost-Maker eventually agreed to stay out of Gotham and started fighting crime in Southeast Asia. He has however broken this pact in order to take Batman's place as Gotham's protector.
