Bruce Wayne had established a legacy as The Batman protector of Gotham. The GCPD trusted Batman but all the years of crime fighting had taken a toll on Bruce mentally and physically. Bruce started to doubt if he could continue being Batman for much longer. Meanwhile The Penguin hired Deathstroke the worlds greatest assassin to kill Batman allowing Penguin to work in peace.
