Edward is Barbara's prime suspect. Over the course of the series, Batgirl gets closer to him, solving riddles. In the series finale, a battle takes place between Barbara and the Riddler. The Riddler loses, but is too tired to return to Arkham. He tells Barbara that he's not responsible for Batman's disappearance and kills himself.
