Every time Uncle Ben and Aunt May saw Peter's fame, they both became proud and mostly concerned. The night that Peter let Joe Martello get away, Ben left home that night to find Peter. But on the way there, Ben saw a mugging and intervened. He saved the person but got shot in the process. Peter immediately ran to the alley that was nearby until he saw his uncle Ben, shot, on the ground. With his dying words, Uncle Ben said that the person who did this was Hammerhead and to not forget that "with great power . . . comes great responsibility."
