Thousands of years ago, a mysterious sorcerer created a mystical substance known as Chi capable of awakening mystical powers known as Chi in living beings, as well as transforming them into the most diverse creatures. The Hamato Clan waged war for years to protect this substance from falling into the wrong hands. In a battle to the death between Hamato Yoshi and Oruko Saki in a temple, an explosion of this substance was triggered, transforming Yoshi and four baby turtles of different species into mutants. After that, Yoshi, now known as Splinter, trained these four turtles in the art of Ninjutsu and the mystical arts of Chi in the sewers of Tokyo. However, after an attack by the Foot Clan, they moved to the sewers of Manhattan, where they met a young journalism student, April O'Neil. The four turtles must now face a variety of threats, from members of the Foot Clan, mutants, mystical and interdimensional beings, and learn more about chi and this mysterious substance.
