Superman considers his place in the universe. Despite being human, he knows he’s an alien, but he also has no connection to that part of him since he was raised entirely on Earth. He finds himself put against two foes: Parasite aka Rudy Jones, an undocumented immigrant blackmailed into being experimented on; and Toyman aka Winslow Schlott, a Polish inventor who’s family escaped to America during the Holocaust and is now forced to use his toy making skills to supply gangs. Meanwhile, Lois Lane investigates, slowly uncovering a mysterious organisation known as CADMUS.
