Due to an ongoing Civil War on the planet Krypton, infant Kal-El was sent away to Earth where he is adopted by Jonathan and Martha Kent who name him "Clark". Clark forms a love interest with Lois Lane at the Daily Planet. Kal's reveal as Superman grabs the attention of five Kryptonians including Kata-Zor, Superman's rival uncle, who challenges Superman and eventually kills him, but is resurrected.
