Martha, like Jonathan, doesn't do much to support Clark and I think her only important moment in the first draft is revealing her Kryptonian origins, that Jor-El chose them as surrogate parents for Clark and that due to an incident involving the landlord Of the Kents trying to abuse Martha and Clark, leaving him almost dead, he is traumatized by this fact.
