Jor-El is Superman's biological father, the husband of Lara, and a leading scientist on the planet Krypton before its destruction. He correctly predicts his planet's fate - but is unable to convince *most* of his colleagues in time to rescue most of Krypton's inhabitants. In my movie, Jor-el *does* convince: General Zod; Senator Uhuru Non and People's Army Commander Ursa Chan. <= This finally explains *why* those 3 staged a coup against their own Government. Professor Jor-el has an MD, PhD in biochemistry, and, though he's never used it, he has a JD <= he's a licensed lawyer. As with everyone who grew up on Krypton, Jor-el has a distinguished British accent - when he speaks in English.
