Stay True is a heartfelt coming-of-age film based on the book of the same name by Hua Hsu. Set in suburban California during the 1980s and 1990s, the story revolves around Hua Hsa, a reserved and introspective student attending the University of California, Berkeley. It is during his time at Berkeley that he encounters Ken Ishida, an outgoing and charismatic student from carefree San Diego and Shawn Jenkins a charismatic and free-spirited student.
