At an Imperial facility on the planet Kamino, Darth Vader observes the training of a renegade clone of his former apprentice Starkiller, whom Vader considers a failure in his quest to create a perfect apprentice The clone possesses the original Starkiller's memories and is unable to strike down a droid modeled after the original Starkiller's love interest, Juno Eclipse. The clone experiences various visions of Starkiller's life, including Vader's betrayal. Realizing Vader will betray and try to have him killed as well, the clone makes his escape. Stealing Vader's ship, he embarks on a quest to understand his identity and escape the Dark Lord's influence. Meanwhile, Vader hires the bounty hunter Boba Fett to capture Juno Eclipse to lure the clone back to him.
