STAR WARS: EPISODE VII — THE FORCE AWAKENS

Thirty years after the fall of the Empire, the New Republic has established peace across much of the galaxy, but a terrorist organization called the First Order is determined to destroy it and restore the Empire's legacy. When the First Order raids a Republic archive on Coruscant, young Republic pilot Sam Solo—the son of Han and Leia—is drawn into the fight. The First Order's search for Luke Skywalker leads to the murder of legendary Rebel hero Wedge Antilles, while a compassionate stormtrooper designated R-A-2-1-8-7 defects and helps Sam escape with a map connected to Luke's disappearance. Sam gives her the name Rey, and the two reluctantly become allies before seeking help from Sam's father, Han Solo, now a Republic ambassador. Their journey brings them to the Resistance, where Rey begins to see the difference between the people of the Republic and the First Order's dehumanizing regime. The First Order eventually attacks the Resistance base on Takodana, devastating the people Rey has begun to care about and forcing her to confront her fear rather than continue running. Discovering that the First Order plans to destroy the Republic capital of Coruscant using a massive fusion-reactor chain reaction, Rey joins Sam, Han, and Chewbacca in a desperate mission to stop them. There, Han confronts the mysterious Kylo Ren and discovers the devastating truth: Kylo is actually his son, Ben Solo, who has fallen to the dark side under the manipulation of Darth Plagueis. Ben kills Han, leaving Sam and Rey to confront him. Rey embraces the Force to protect Sam but is ultimately defeated and wounded by Kylo before the collapsing reactor separates them. With Coruscant saved but Han dead and the Republic badly wounded, Rey finally chooses to stop running. Armed with Luke Skywalker's lightsaber, she sets out to find the missing Jedi Master and bring him home, beginning the next generation's fight for hope.
