Fifteen years after the fall of the Galactic Empire, Leia Organa has passed away, while an aging Luke Skywalker, Leia's brother, trains a new generation of young Jedi, including his son Ben Skywalker, Jacen and Jaina Solo, the son and daughter of Leia and Han Solo, and others in the hopes of creating a new Jedi Order and forming a new Republic in Leia's honor. In the shadows, darkness lurks. An underworld of offshoot Stormtroopers spread out on multiple planets across the Galaxy alarms Luke, who gathers forces to prevent a potential conflict, but upon realizing that the troops are part of a new army working under Grand Admiral Thrawn, a former Imperial leader, an increasingly desperate Luke Skywalker gathers his students, along with his wife Mara Jade, Han Solo, Chewbacca, Lando Calrissian, C-3PO, and R2-D2 to seek out Ahsoka Tano, the only Jedi that can help them defeat Thrawn and his mysterious superior, the sinister Darth Talon, a Sith trained by the late Darth Maul. When the heroes think they have won, Darth Talon and Grand Admiral Thrawn deliver a crushing blow by turning Jacen Solo to the dark side and setting in motion the rise of a new Galactic Empire.
