One year after the defeat of the sorceress, Spyro and company are having at the market in avalar, when they heard a group led by a hooded elderly man about retaking the "beast". Later that day, Spyro found a tied sack, when he untied it, he accidentally releases a female purple dragon named Cynder. He is forced to team up with her to escape from a group who wants to capture Cynder and from another who wants to take her back.
