After being bitten by a genetically engineered spider at a science demonstration, nerdy young Peter Parker gains superpowers. Initially, he intends to use them to make money, adopting the name Spider-Man and performing in exhibition fights. However, upon witnessing the murder of his Uncle Ben and feeling guilty, Peter decides not to use his powers for his own benefit but to face evil, having as his first major challenge the psychotic Green Goblin with Sinister Six.
