Once he was Otto Octavius: a brilliant but introverted young scientist who created a set of mechanical hads to help him explore his mind's passion sans physical constraints. But a laboratory accident caused the tentacles to bond with his body, granting him telepathic control over the mechanical limbs. But the mishap also messed with his mind, abandoning his dreams of one day furthering the field of atomic research, turning into a life of crime instead.
