A former private eye who got arrested for bribery, false evidence, and assault. But J. Jonah Jameson remembered Gargan as the best private eye for rescuing the former's son from thugs. So Jameson bails Gargan out of prison, and hires him to get some dirt on Spider-Man. Find out his weakness. When all else fails, Jameson loses his patience and submits Gargan to an underground laboratory as a test subject for an unstable experiment. After the experiment, Gargan is given the instincts and abilities of a scorpion. He is also given special armor with an articulating and deadly stinger.
