Peter and Gwen's relationship is blooming, at least until an interloper named Felicia Hardy comes into Spider-Man's life, intent on seducing him. Peter has a new job, working as a photographer for the Daily Bugle, selling J. Jonah Jameson pictures of Spider-Man. Everything seems to be going well until Spider-Man is unexpectedly attacked by Kraven the Hunter, a Russian mercenary hired to kill the superhero. Spider-Man defeats Kraven and discovers a connection to Harry's corrupt father, Norman Osborn. Spider-Man tries to take on the Green Goblin. He reveals to Harry that he's Spider-Man, telling him that he has no choice but to fight his friend's father. Harry warns Norman that Spider-Man is Peter Parker and is coming for him. Norman defeats Spider-Man and kills Gwen and makes it look like Spider-Man did it. The public takes up JJJ's view of Spider-Man based on the belief that the hero killed someone, and Spider-Man becomes public enemy number one, and Norman gets away with it
