DAHLIA: From the name of the flower, which was named for the Swedish botanist Anders Dahl. Spanish and Arabic form is "DALIA." It has different meanings in the Lithuanian and Hebrew languages: in Lithuanian, from "dalis" meaning "portion, share," the name of the goddess of weaving, fate, and childbirth. In Hebrew, it means "hanging branch."
