This trope is the logical conclusion of an overconfident obsession with oneself. However, it is distinct from It's All About Me in that it does not focus simply on characters who frequently display self-centered behavior (often for comedic effect), but explores the mindset of characters whose behavior is strongly symptomatic of narcissistic personality disorder. The narcissist appears to be literally in love with themselves, presents themselves as perfect, and expects you to agree.
