Description of Allegedly Optimistic Ending (Esoteric Happy Ending):
When some viewers don't believe that an ending that the creator intended to be optimistic is optimistic enough. Whether through personal taste, changing social norms, or just consequences that never even occurred to the creator, all the satisfaction leaches out of the characters' triumph, leaving behind a feeling of unease that anyone could make a work with that ending, let alone call it a happy ending. This can also happen with a Bittersweet Ending with sad notes that feel like they overshadow the optimistic elements, causing it to come off as an outright Downer Ending.
