Description of Espio the Chameleon:

Espio hails from Chun-Nan where his family runs a ninja academy. Their most prized possession was their family heirloom, The Gem of the Storm Dragon. One day, an army of robots arrived at the academy to steal the heirloom. The ninjas and Espio fought bravely but they were no match for the mechs and took the gem portion of the heirloom and left. Espio took this failure as his own and left the academy to retrieve the gem, which he had no idea at the time was actually a Chaos Emerald. His journey took him to Empire City where he met his future teammates Charmy and Vector, that latter of which stole his favorite kunai. He met Charmy on the search for Vector and discovered he was also looking for the crocodile. After hours of searching they found Vector, who was ejected from his gang and beaten up. After Vector explained the situation, which was bigger than they thought, Espio and Charmy teamed up with him to take on the gang. After a huge fight, the chameleon and bee got their stuff back and even saved two kidnapped kids from the gang. Vector apologized and Espio was ready to leave his new allies until Charmy noted how great they are as a team and even more importantly, as detectives. Together, they can help the city and find out who stole Espio's family gem. Weeks later the trio started the Chaotix Detective Agency.
