An attempt by the space colony ARK to create the ultimate lifeform and synthesize immortality, Shadow was raised on the ARK and was accompanied by his best friend Hope Kintobor. However, a freak accident would result in Hope’s death and Shadow being sent to Mobius frozen for 50 years. In the modern day, he was manipulated by Eggman and Starline to be part of the Eggman Empire and assist his latest scheme in taking over Mobius. Arrogant in his belief of being 'the ultimate lifeform' and a natural loner, Shadow's brooding, blunt, and abrasive personality makes him difficult to befriend. However, Maria and his comrades in Team Dark would become the few lights in Shadow's world.
