He is at first a greedy and arrogant senator who wants less population in green hills. He unthinkingly makes a deal with mephiles, which is the result of his (Mephiles) plan to invade the world. Gilbert realizes his mistake and helps team sonic, tom, maddie, silver and blaze defeat mephiles for annihilating the entire universe. Gilbert then decides to redeem himself and reconsiders of not having less population, he's now a good hearted man, and never has his pompous personality again.
