During the movie, Mighty began to talk to Sonic about how other people might need help like Mobius does. At the end, they all arrive on Christmas Island where Mighty and Ray pack their belongings and began to begin their journey on their own. Sonic hugged them for they were his only friends his entire life. As Mighty & Ray race off into the sunset, Sonic takes another run and does the same. This is not the end of his story. Only the beginning.
