A dementia-suffering, 91-year-old World War II veteran-Henry Elliot-is resting in a London hospice. The day before his(as it turns out) death, he is visited by his family, friends, and along with them, friendly hospice staff. His family brings with them to the hospice a certain small gift-it is a memento of his wife Annabel, who has been dead for several years. It is her old heart-shaped necklace-inscribed inside the necklace are the names "Henry" and "Annabel." When the man looks at the necklace something unbelievable happens- He carefully takes the necklace from his son's hands, examines it and... He begins to tell the unusual love story of him and Annabel. With an astonishing amount of detail. From their getting to know each other during their school years, to the outbreak of war and writing letters to each other, putting their lives back together after the war ended, the birth of their son, and the death of his wife.
