William Rankin Patton (born June 14, 1954) is an American actor and audiobook narrator. He starred as Colonel Dan Weaver in the TNT science fiction series Falling Skies. He also appeared in the films Remember the Titans, Armageddon, Gone in 60 Seconds and The Punisher. He appeared opposite Kevin Costner in two films: No Way Out (1987) and The Postman (1997). He won two Obie Awards for best actor in Sam Shepard's play Fool for Love and the Public Theater production of What Did He See?.

Solarcraft is a 2022 American science fiction drama film written, co-produced, and directed by Christopher Nolan. It is about a wilderness adventurer who is sent in 1972 to the planet Neptune by her father. A co-production by Legendary Pictures and RatPac-Dune Entertainment, with a story by David S. Goyer, the film stars Anne Hathaway, who is supported by Kaya Scodelario, Jack Quaid, Ken Watanabe, James Purefoy, Morgan Freeman, Naomie Harris, Will Patton, Melissa McBride, and Michael Caine. Solarcraft had its world premiere at the 79th Venice International Film Festival on November 30th, 2022, and was released on December 7th. It was a financial success, grossing over $971 million worldwide against a $130 million budget and a break-even point of $100 million. The film received universal critical acclaim, with praise for its storytelling, gritty tone, visual effects, cinematography, direction, musical score, scientific accuracy, portrayal of the Outer Space, ambition, characters, mature themes, performances (particularly those of Hathaway, Scodelario, Watanabe, and Caine), and emotional weight.
