Oscar was pulled to Skylands as a baby when a portal appeared under his crib, after which he was found and taken in by Gabriel—meaning that the Skylands Restoration Team and his fellow portal masters are the only family he's ever known. He was the only one whose powers didn't manifest when the Magic Eater's fragments attacked their base, with his kicking in on his tenth birthday instead.
